Weight Stigma

People living with overweight and obesity are often subjected weight stigma. Weight stigma includes the negative social stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding people living with overweight and obesity, and is a harmful manifestation of social inequity.

Weight stigma is one of the most common forms of discrimination in modern societies and is manifested in a number of settings. This dossier and briefing aim to highlight the pervasive nature of weight stigma, the impact this has across society, and opportunities for policies to help reduce weight stigma and bias.

Through this dossier, we will collate evidence, resources, and materials pertaining to weight stigma.
